Using Google Drive in Dropover
Google Drive in Dropover allows you to quickly create a shareable Google Drive link for your dragged items.
Using Google Drive in Dropover
To start using Google Drive in Dropover, follow these steps:
- Open Dropover's preferences screen
- Select "Share Services" tab
- Select "Google Drive" from the list
- Select "Configuration..." button in the content view
- Hit the "Link Google Drive" button and follow the instructions.
Once your Google Drive account is linked, you will be able to copy a public Google Drive link for your dragged content. To do so, click the "•••" button in the shelf and select "Copy Google Drive Link".
Customizing upload
When you select the "Copy Google Drive Link" button, a prompt will appear where you can customize the upload:
- File destination path: The destination path inside Google Drive where the files should be placed. By default, the content will go into a directory called "Uploaded on {date}".
- Invite by email (inc. personal message): Email address of the recipient that should receive the shareable link by email from Google Drive, including an optional personal message.
- Expiration time: The time after which the invite will no longer be available (only applicable if email invite is used).
- Create ZIP archive: Indicates whether the files should be uploaded as a single ZIP file.
How does Google Drive work in Dropover?
When you select "Copy Google Drive Link", Dropover will create a destination directory inside Dropover Uploads (by default, this will be "Uploaded on {date}").
It will then upload the content from the shelf to that destination directory. Once uploaded the files are uploaded it will make the destination directory readable by anyone unless an email has been entered for invite.
The link of that destination directory is then copied to the clipboard. Anyone who access that link (unless invite is used), will be able to access the uploaded content. When you delete the directory, nobody will be able to access it anymore.
How does Dropover use my data from Google & Google Drive?
When you link your Google Drive account, Dropover will locally store an authentication token in the keychain. Dropover must use this authentication token in order to communicate with Google.
Dropover can only access files and directories that Dropover has created. It does not have access to any other files or directories on your Google Drive.
You can revoke Dropover's access anytime, see here.
Who can access my uploaded content?
Anybody you share the link with, will be able to access (but not modify) the files in the destination directory.
When you delete the destination directory, nobody will be able to access it anymore.
